Sensible Soccer PLUS

This is one of the best football games ever made, which later evolved into SWOS, which is still played by many people all over the world, and is probably the most played game on PC in history. It was created in 1992 by Sensible Software for the Amiga and had a conversion for the PC that I really loved from the first play.

When I got my first PC in 1993, a 386DX 40mhz with 8mb of RAM and an Sound Blaster 16 (which I bought in 1994 only), I had already been playing it for a long time with friends on their PCs since 1993. I really loved this game but it only had European Teams and National Teams, but we could edit these teams and create our own teams, which was really fantastic for that time.

But editing a certain number of teams, the game would start to crash all the time, so we couldn’t change much through the normal procedures without the game crashing, so we could only add some Brazilian Teams and some South American Teams to play from time to time with friends, but I really wanted to play a Brazilian Championship, a Brazilian Cup and of course, a World Cup with Brazil and with teams from all over the world.

Well, I had already done something similar with Match Day II on MSX years ago, on a smaller scale but I had already done it. Here I would only need more teams, and more information about them, such as the most important, their uniforms.

I needed a mix of normal game editing, hex editing and a good bat script to have all the teams I wanted to play. I made a menu like I had done for Match Day II where you choose what kind of Championship you want to play, then load the exact teams for the respective Championship selected.

Within the game, you can play with any team, but it was made to play with Flamengo in the clubs (that’s why this Mod is also known as Sensible Soccer Flamengo), and with Brazil in the World Cup. So you will find them in all available championships, and they are always in the place of the worst team available in that group of teams.

This was done to make the game more difficult for experienced players like me. I recommend that you edit these teams from within the game, swapping places with your favorite teams. So you will have difficult and unpredictable matches ahead to play in all the available tournaments, making this game very fun, disputed and immortal.

You will need a DOS Emulator to be able to play it nowadays, I recomend you to use DOSBox.
