EuroVision

The American band EuroVision was looking for artists to remix their demos, and I offered to remix one of their songs, since I was already familiar with their work and had a demo CD of theirs that I thought was really cool.

They were still looking for a record label and the remixes would help them a lot in this process, especially in terms of promotion. Joe Rameythen sent me a CD with the vocals for “Without You (I Just Don’t Belong)” and a few other demos.

It took me a while to do his remix since I was already doing a lot of other ones with shorter deadlines, but the result was worth the wait, and Joe also loved my remix after listening to the MP3.

The band posted a link to my remix on their forum, and it received a lot of praise from everyone, and even the online radio station Slothradiotook an interest in my remix and started playing it on their schedule. That made me very happy.

I finished the remix in December 2003, but I didn’t send the CDR to the band until the second week of 2004 due to the busy holiday season. The band signed with Leg End Productions and released their first album On Fire, as well as a single of “Without You (I Just Don’t Belong)”, where you can find my remix.

But it didn’t stop there. I ended up becoming friends with Joeand helping him with a lot of things. Initially I was responsible for converting all the songs to MP3 and adding all the details, uploading them to Amazon, MySpace and other websites at the time. And since EuroVision didn’t have a website yet, I developed and hosted one for the band myself.

In addition, I did several audio restoration jobs on old cassette demos of the band, generating MP3s for distribution and burning them onto CDs, where I was also responsible for the design and printing of the artwork, which was later replicated in the US and sold on their website.

I worked with them until the end of the band in 2005 after the release of their second and last album, when they had already broken up. And I continued working with Joe for a few more years, helping him with his Brand New Day project, where I also collaborated on a remix.
