Virtual Server

A project created and coordinated by DJ RAM, a Russian DJ & Producer, it brings together renowned vocalists in the world of Synthpop to sing songs written by him or by the vocalists themselves.

These are programmed and produced by DJ RAM, thus creating their first original version. After that, they are made available in A Cappella versions so that musicians and DJs from all over the world can give them a new look. That’s where I come in.

Stefan Netschio from the German band Beborn Beton wrote the excellent song “Why (Would I)” and DJ RAM ended up producing it in a very Trance-like way.

At the invitation of my friend Todd Durrant from A Different Drum, the record label through which Virtual Server was released, I was asked to do a remix of this song even though the project was practically finished. He gave me only 3 weeks to have the song there in the United States with him, which at the time meant recording a CDR and sending it by mail, which left me with very little time to work.

It was a very complicated process that is described in detail here on the website where I tell you about my relationship with A Different Drum if you are interested in knowing more details.

The song was released on the Bonus CD of the excellent album Installed on September 14, 2002 in the United States by the record label A Different Drum, and was number one in sales for the label for several weeks.

In 2003 I made two more versions to practice and the result was very cool and they were very well received by DJ RAM, Todd, friends and fans. They were remixes of my version, as if mine were the original. Many believe to this day that my version is in fact the original version.

In 2004 with my Remix Album, I made a point of starting from the beginning, with the person who introduced me to the market as a remixer. So I invited DJ RAM to include the Virtual Server project on my album, an invitation that was very well accepted immediately.

For this, I made a New Remix this time with all my knowledge in Renoise, because at the time of the original I used Fruity Loops (FL Studio), in which I was still very inexperienced. This Remix opens my Remix Album and received countless compliments from everyone.

In 2006, there was another Remix Contest for Virtual Server and I had already stopped applying for these Contests, but there was a song with vocals by Reaganfrom Iristhat I really liked, and I decided to participate. The result was really cool and I consider it one of my best works.

My Remix was one of those selected by DJ RAM to be released. Some would be released on the Bonus Disc of the Setup album that was released in 2007, and the rest would be released as Singles. But at that time, the label A Different Drum, like all record companies, was not doing so well and decided not to release any Single, and so my Remix was never officially released.
